A large lonely bay with its breathless beaches that steeply descends along the sea creating a scenery of particular appeal. The wind blowing normally at a speed between 14 and 15 knots, makes some beaches of Portonovo the meeting point of numerous surfers; Near the "La Capannina" you could be witness the evolution of kite surf enthusiasts.
An oasis of nature where the buildings are really few, apart from some tourist structure and the three symbols of the territory: the Napoleonic Fortress, the hystorical watch tower and the church of Santa Maria di Portonovo.
The Trave's rock, with its characteristic shape, partly immersed in the sea, extends in the waters for almost a kilometer, forming a true stroll suspended on the waves. A place clad by legends of distant times where nature was the protagonist and queen of events. It is reported that the Trave's rock originally touched the other side of the Adriatic and its current appearance of sunken bridge is the result of a disruptive natural evolution.
